Jamie Vernaelde

Senior Research and Policy Analyst

Jamie conducts overall research for PAI, focusing on the impacts of U.S. foreign policy on women’s rights as well as women and girls’ access to sexual and reproductive health in humanitarian settings. She monitors current research, policies, and media to identify pressing issues relating to PAI's mission, and designs and carries out strategic analyses with practical recommendations to improve policies and funding of the U.S. Government, multilateral institutions such as the United Nations, and other important actors in the field. She has over six years of experience in qualitative human rights research and policy, having documented abuses against institutionalized children with Lumos, and previously supported research and advocacy with Human Rights Watch on East Africa. Jamie earned a master's degree in conflict resolution and certificate in refugees and humanitarian emergencies from Georgetown University. She also holds an undergraduate degree in International Relations and French from the University of California, Davis.
