In response to the election of President-elect Donald Trump and Vice President-elect J.D. Vance, and the Republican party’s control of the Senate and potential control of the House of Representatives, Nabeeha Kazi Hutchins, PAI President and CEO, issued the following statement:
“We know from the actions taken by the previous Trump administration that attacks on gender equality, human rights and sexual and reproductive health are imminent and are coupled with the very real threat of Project 2025.
“We will oppose the implementation of policies and actions, such as the Global Gag Rule, that deny people their fundamental human rights, including the right to reproductive health care. We will provide trusted support to international organizations that rely on US government support and partnership. We will ensure that evidence-based health care, desired by women and youth, is delivered.
“Irrespective of the political shifts in the United States and the challenges that may lie ahead, our movement must remain steadfast in our shared mandate and resolute in our collective voice.
“PAI will remain ever-vigilant, collaborative and hopeful. We will uphold our values on reproductive rights and deliver on what communities around the world have entrusted PAI to advance for all people and generations to come.”
