GFF NGO Host at PAI

The GFF NGO Host and associated Civil Society GFF Resource and Engagement Hub are multiyear initiatives that strengthen civil society and youth engagement in the Global Financing Facility’s partner countries to help deliver better health for all women, children and adolescents.

Launched in 2015, the Global Financing Facility (GFF) is a multistakeholder partnership to improve and support sexual, reproductive, maternal, newborn, child and adolescent health and nutrition (SRMNCAH-N) through targeted strengthening of primary health care systems to save lives in 36 low- and lower-middle-income countries. In 2022, PAI and the GFF announced a new collaboration designed to enhance civil society and youth engagement in the 36 GFF partner countries and increase the effectiveness of GFF investments. PAI has awarded $2.7 Million to 51 partners in 28 countries. PAI used a transparent competitive grantmaking process to onboard civil society and youth-led organizations to lead advocacy to improve SRMNCAH-N at the country level.

The project awarded over $2.7 million to increase access to affordable, quality health care for women, children and adolescents. This financial support was given to 51 CSOs and YLOs in 28 GFF partner countries.

Project Overview

The GFF supports countries with catalytic financing and technical assistance to develop and implement prioritized national health plans to scale up access to affordable, quality health care for women, children and adolescents. Engaging civil society organizations (CSOs) and youth-led organizations (YLOs) at both the global and country levels is central to the GFF’s multistakeholder approach and vital to the achievement of country goals. CSOs and YLOs can help ensure that the GFF-funded investments target hard-to-reach and excluded communities and can support demand generation for services.

The GFF NGO Host at PAI is a unique initiative funded directly by the GFF Secretariat, making it the second largest GFF/World Bank investment in CSO leadership. It aims to unleash the full potential of civil society to increase the effectiveness of GFF investments. As the GFF NGO Host, PAI will award small grants to CSOs and YLOs in the GFF to support advocacy, accountability and the production of evidence, including documenting best practices.
