Reproductive Health Advocacy Partnership
The Reproductive Health Advocacy Partnership supports civil society organizations in Malawi and Zambia to influence funding and policy decisions on sexual and reproductive health and rights.
The Reproductive Health Advocacy Partnership (RHAP) strengthens the advocacy capacity and organizational effectiveness of institutions working to influence funding and policy decisions on sexual and reproductive health and rights at district, national and international levels. RHAP is a multiyear project supporting civil society organizations in Malawi and Zambia through a principled approach grounded in flexibility, shared learning and mutual accountability. Our financial and technical support is driven by the sexual and reproductive health and rights expertise of our partners and their knowledge of the local context and political landscape.
RHAP has awarded more than $700,000 to support the advocacy work and organizational capacity strengthening of our partners.

PAI recognizes that our partners are best positioned to define advocacy objectives that will improve sexual and reproductive health and rights in their country context. RHAP demonstrates this understanding by providing technical support and flexible funding to civil society organizations in Malawi and Zambia. RHAP fills critical advocacy funding gaps for some of the most neglected and stigmatized areas of sexual and reproductive health and rights, including contraceptives and safe and legal abortion.
The focus of RHAP financial support is partner-driven sexual and reproductive health and rights advocacy objectives and organizational capacity strengthening. Our partners have expressed that investing in both of these areas is essential to determine what is most needed to achieve policy change — whether that is building their internal advocacy capacity or working with other civil society organizations to advance shared advocacy goals. This funding is bolstered by sustained, hands-on technical support that is tailored and responsive to each of our partners and their unique needs. As long-term partnership is a core value of this project, RHAP has strengthened relationships between PAI, our partners and policymakers; improved organizational capacity; and increased the number of advocacy wins for sexual and reproductive health and rights.
