When disaster strikes, most people think the most pressing needs are food and water — but that’s not all. Women and children are up to 14 times more likely than men to die in a disaster, and in 2014, 75 percent of people needing humanitarian assistance were women and children. These groups have special needs to address, particularly around reproductive health.
